Meet the Maker
Hi there, my name is Jessica Navarro. I started Ordinary Refinement the summer of 2022 and it's been so fun watching it grow. I've always had a passion for thinking outside of the box when it comes to crafts and creating new projects. Once I come up with a concept, I enjoy putting my own style and aesthetic into my craft.
My favorite projects to work on are probably my miniature dioramas. I have very vivid memories of building and decorating dollhouses with my mom growing up. I also love all things miniatures and interior design. Combining those cherished memories and my interests helped me create my dioramas.

Behind the Name
When coming up with a business name, it was important that I incorporate words that were significant and special to me personally. Funny enough, a quote came to mind from my favorite show, The Office. It was the last line of the show, "There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn't that kind of the point?". And right away, I knew I wanted to use the word Ordinary. Soon after, Refinement popped in my head. Refinement in the Bible means when impurities or unwanted elements have been removed by processing, purifying, or treatment. And that's what I strive to do in my craft, turn ordinary and normal materials and refine them into something unique and special. That's how Ordinary Refinement came to be.
I married the most amazing and supportive husband in 2020 and we have two precious boys. Having my sons really encouraged me to start my own business. I am so thankful that I'm able to stay home with my babies and do something I genuinely enjoy and have a passion for. I love sharing my creative journey and the items I've been working on so that you all can enjoy them as well.
